SDN - ethical and sustainable fashion
Participating in the Now Showcase in NYC is SDN (stands for Sarah Dixons Nova), a Brooklyn-based clothing company with an emphasis on quality, innovation and social responsibility. Designer/Owner Marcus Hicks since 1995, has worked as a freelance tailor for clients such as Beyonce Knowles, Calvin Klein and Perry Ellis. Created in 2003, SDN started with recycling used T-shirts, hand dying them and screen-printing collages on them. After much success, and recognizing the need and desire for clothing made from sustainable fabrics, SDN launched a full line of men’s and women’s clothing, made entirely of recycled, organic and other sustainable fabrics for Fall 2008.
