hessnatur - organic clothing from a company with a conscience

A few weeks ago Treehugger published the Top 10 Buyers of Organic Cotton - and we weren’t surprised to find German company hessnatur was number 10. In 1976,  Heinz Hess was a naturalist, a man who ardently believed that pure was better, organic was healthier, that man and nature should exist in harmony. With the birth of his son, Hess was determined to provide his newborn with the organic clothing he couldn’t find anywhere. So Heinz Hess started his own clothing company, hessnatur. First it started with organic cotton but then Hess began to work with partners who developed organic linen, silk and wool, adhering to the same strict measures as the cotton. Heinz Hess died in 2006. But his dream didn’t die with him. And now the dream has landed in America: beautiful, natural, organic clothing from a company with a conscience. The women’s collection has a full line of basics as well as detailed pieces like this Organic Cotton Jersey Halter top/dress in vintage print. Smocked back, tied at neck. $55 USD.
